[Case Study] Yamaha Motor Liger Lab | Nejill Furniture adopted for co-creation base

A bench that incorporates the idea of circulation in a “place of empathy.”

We delivered and installed Nejiru Furniture benches at the YAMAHA MOTOR Regenerative Lab (commonly known as Regenerative Lab), a co-creation space established at Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.'s Yokohama base.

The bench, with its form as if human memories were layered over the memory of sustainable materials, adds an accent to the place where conversations between people begin.

Background

LijeLab is a co-creation space developed by Yamaha Motor, designed with the concept of " a hub where empathy flows and co-creation continues to be born. "
In a place where diverse companies and people gather and exchange ideas, the furniture that makes up the space was also required to have "philosophy" and "interactivity."

Nejiru Furniture is a one-of-a-kind item made by upcycling discarded clothing and materials . Its soft shape and the memory of the materials were chosen as a "trigger" to generate new encounters and conversations.

Delivery items and installation details

• Location : YAMAHA MOTOR Regenerative Lab
  (Yamaha Motor Innovation Center Yokohama)

• Delivery item : nejiru bench (off-white denim/black denim)

• Specifications : A removable cover made of screw parts is installed on top of an antique wooden bench . It can be removed depending on the purpose or scene.

Co-creation begins with "sitting"

nejiru's benches are not just seats.
Worn fabrics are reconstructed and given new life, posing questions to visitors such as "Where did they come from?" and "What are they made of?"

It has become a quiet presence in the LigerLab space, almost like a piece of furniture carrying a story.
